The Humboldt Cross Country team is a co-ed program. The boys and girls train together, offering a wider range of competitive opportunites in practice.
There are no "bench warmers" in Cross Country. Whether big or small, short or tall, all members of the team will have the opportunity to compete in either the varsity or the JV section of each regular season meet. Training takes place on the school campus, throughout town, on the trails and in parks to complete over distance runs and participate in the running games that may be conducted for practice. Runners need to be self-motivated and disciplined as they will not always be within sight of the coaches. Cross Country helps each participant realize success and raise their level of confidence as they learn to push themselves to run farther, faster, and longer than they thought possible.
