We are excited to welcome your family to the 2017-18 school year!   You are receiving this message because you have a child enrolled at Mease Elementary.  I will send announcements via email a few times a week.  If you have a different email address or if there is another family member who also wants to receive the messages please contact me to be added to the list.

Wednesday and Thursday we will have Open House for EC-5 (Pre-Kindergarten) and Kindergarten students from 10:00 - 6:00.  If you have forgotten your meeting time or need to make a change please contact the school by calling the office at 332-3578 extension 6515.  The office will be open during this time as well.  We can assist you with the following:

  • Set up Parent Portal access

  • Music Booster Activity Calendars available for $5.00 each

First day of school for elementary students is Friday, August 25th.  Our doors will open at 7:50 a.m.  Students who eat breakfast at school should arrive early enough to eat before the tardy bell rings at 8:20 a.m.  Our half day classes dismiss at 11:15 every day but Wednesdays when they dismiss at 10:15.  Our afternoon dismissal is at 3:15 except on Wednesdays we dismiss at 2:15.  Be sure that your child and their teacher know what the student does when we dismiss.

Student Drop off and Pick up - please do not park in the bus lane at any time.  The bus lane is the entire curb along the west side of the school.  Please park on the south side of the school or if there are spots in the parking lot.  Please walk your child to the building.  We will have school personnel available to assist children getting off the buses.  After school please wait for the teachers to dismiss the students to you.  This will take place right outside the west doors.  All classes exit through these doors at the end of the day.  Do not attempt to use any other door to enter the school at any time during the school day.  All doors are locked and there is a buzzer system set up at our main door for entry if anyone needs to come in during the school day.

Parent-Student Handbook is available online at the HCSD website.  Please take time to look through the elementary section of the handbook.  Click on the link for http://www.humboldt.k12.ia.us/documents/filelibrary/documents/pdfs/1718_Parent_Handbook_FDA0470F58B81.pdf.  Only a very limited quantity of handbooks are printed but if you want one please stop in the office to obtain a copy.
