A big THANK YOU to all who came to Literacy Night last Thursday and shopped at the Book Fair. With your support we earned $2000 to be spent at the Mease and Taft libraries. Thanks again! Mrs. Kehoe, Elementary Librarian

Middle School Spring Fling for Friday, May 4th has been cancelled.

SCRIP Orders - if you'd like to order gift cards from PATHS please return your order form and payment to school by Thursday, May 3rd.  They will be available for pick up on May 15 and 17 or can be mailed to you for an additional $1.00 to cover postage.  This is the final order for this school year; thank you for supporting PATHS throughout the year!

On Friday, May 4th all the morning EC-4, EC-5 and Kindergarten classes will be going to the fairgrounds for activities with Davis Farms.  Please be sure your child wears older clothing and tennis shoes (no sandals) as they might get dirty, as well as a jacket in case it's chilly that morning.

Appropriate Footwear for School - Just a reminder that Flip Flops are not appropriate footwear for elementary students.  Please refer to page 34 of the HCSD Parent-Student Handbook http://www.humboldt.k12.ia.us/en/parent_and_student_information/parent_student_handbook_20172018/.  These shoes do not provide the protection needed during PE or daily recess.  Please keep these shoes for casual wear at home.  Thank you.

Friday, May 4 we are going to be conducting an Evacuation Drill at Mease Elementary.  Reasons for an evacuation of our school building may be due to a gas leak, or an intruder in the building, or severe weather on the way.  In the event we need to evacuate the school building, our safe zone is the Humboldt County Courthouse across the street from our school.  This drill will take place at approximately at 1:45 PM. If you have any questions about our drill, you may contact the school office.   The purpose of all drills is to provide practice and allow for all students and school personnel to be prepared and safe at all times.

Lunch Menu Changes - please see attachment for most up to date menu.  We had to switch the May 1 and May 17 meals.  On May 1 we will serve Mr. Rib Patty meal and on May 17 we will serve Ham & Cheese Pretzel meal.  Also please note that today Mease students will have the sack lunch.  Other buildings will serve a different meal.  The reason for this change is our cafeteria is being used for another event during our regular lunch time and students will be eating in their classrooms today.

Pre-K and Kindergarten T-ball Registration - Forms have been sent home with all Mease students.  T-Ball is open to all boys and girls ages 4 through Kindergarten.  If you wish to sign your child up please complete the form and remit it to the Humboldt Parks and Rec. Dept.  Registration deadline is May 25th.  You can also register online at https://nws.nicservices.egov.com/forms/humboldt/pitchtball

ColorCycle It!  - our PATHS organization is now collecting used Crayola markers to be re-purposed.  Bring your used Crayola markers to school and drop them in the bin outside the office.  For more information go to http://www.crayola.com/colorcycle

National Ride Your Bike to School Day is May 9th.  Time to air up the tires and raise the bicycle seats.  If you would like to ride your bike from John Brown Park to Taft Elementary, you may join Mr. Bruder at 7:30 a.m. on May 9th.  We will have assistance from our local law enforcement to provide a safe ride.  Mease students can join the ride and bus up to their school from Taft.  We are hoping parents, grandparents and other school personnel will choose to ride too.
