  • There will be a senior fine arts trip meeting on Thursday morning at 8:00 am in the band room. The trip is open to seniors who have participated extensively in visual art, choir, band, speech, theater, or dance. If you cannot attend please talk to Mrs. Hellman, Ms. Wurth, or Mrs. Wiebke. 
  • The Cat Cafe will be open TOMORROW morning.  We are located in the auditorium lobby. Come and get a warm cup of coffee or try one of the February specials!  
  • Seniors: Voting is now open for the senior standouts and superlatives for the 2022 yearbook. Mrs. K sent you a Google Form to your school email.
  • Reminder-Delivery of flowers, balloons, singing telegrams, etc will not be allowed two days before through two days after Valentine’s Day-February 10-16.
  • Wrestling Districts will be held at Ballard-Huxley next Saturday, Feb. 12th at 11:00 AM in Huxley.  There will be NO LIVESTEAMING of districts. All ticket sales must be made electronically.
  • Briar Cliff University will be here on March 4th at 9 am. Sign up outside the office if you are interested in visiting with the college rep.
  • No school on Friday, February 11. No school Friday, February 25.
  • Girls track sign up is in the office. Practice will begin on February 21.
  • Girl's Track meeting on Wednesday at 2:30 in Mr. Ross’ room
  • The softball team is running a Team Building Fundraiser—Order some delicious cookies!
  • On March 23rd Iowa Central will be hosting their spring career fair (please see attachment). There is to be expected around 125 businesses in attendance. This is a great opportunity for those who want to go straight into the workforce following graduation, connect with area businesses, practice their elevator pitch, prepare an appropriate business casual outfit and practice good hygiene. If students have an updated resume to share with the businesses that would be suggested.
  • The Home Builders Association of Greater Des Moines is hosting Build My Future in Des Moines on Wednesday, April 13th at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. This is a hands-on career fair & industry showcase that brings together employers in skilled trades to expose young people to different careers including but not limited to the following:

    - Manufacturing
    - Healthcare/Nursing
    - Law Enforcement & Emergency Services
    - Military
    - Culinary, Restaurant & Hospitality
    - Agriculture
    - Commercial &  Residential construction
    - Heavy Equipment Operations
    - Trucking/Driver
    - Automotive
    - IT & Cybersecurity
    - Energy & More!

We will be attending the event and touring a college campus.  Sign up outside the office by February 28th if you are interested in attending. Space is limited to 50 students.

  • Join Buena Vista University for their Computer Science Visit Day on Monday, February 28, 2022. Students will explore the career opportunities within their Computer Science programs. Students will participate in three hands-on learning sessions in the areas of robotics, computer security, and virtual reality throughout the day. Lunch will be provided, and they will end the day with a question-and-answer session with current students in their computer science programs. Registration fills up quickly. Registration link for the event:
  • The 2022 Young Women in Leadership Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9, 2022, from morning to early afternoon. This fourth annual event, hosted by the University of Northern Iowa Women in Business, is open to all high school students and is geared toward developing young leaders. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from a variety of speakers focused on topics relating to leadership, as well as personal and professional development. Registration fees will be $15 per attendee, which will include a t-shirt, lunch, and training! Registration runs from January 26 to February 23- be sure to register early as spots are limited.
  • On February 11th, current 10th and 11th graders have the opportunity to participate in the Career Academy Visit Day. This is a great opportunity to see what the academy is all about. There are seven different career pathways to choose from; Business, Computer Science, Liberal Arts, Health Sciences, Manufacturing Technology, or Teacher Academy. Students attend the academy for half a day and can earn up to 18 college credits for free. That is a savings of over $4,500! Students interested sign up on the table outside the office by Feb. 10th.
  • Wildcat Warriors Game Club-We will be meeting every Monday in the Media Center from 3:30 to 5:30.  Bring a new game to teach or come and learn a new game. See Mr. Lauger or Skyler Nielsen for more information.
  • FCA--Wednesdays at Mrs. Beach's House (44 Rainbow Drive) 6:15.  Would love to have you join us for a light meal and time in the Word.
  • Cat Cafe punch cards are available for purchase in the high school office. Cost is $10 for $11 worth of punches.  The Cat Cafe will hold your card for you, so you'll always have funds for your favorite Cat Cafe drinks!
