  • The Humboldt speech team performed incredibly well at State Group Contest at LeMars on Saturday, Earning Division One Ratings were Ensemble Acting Holly Kichhoff and Emie Wolter; Musical Theatre Megan Abens and Hailey Box; Solo Mime Kossett Burmeister; Group Improv Devon Coon, Donovan Froisland, and Logan Kehoe; Group Improv Hailey Box, Jake Halvorson, and Luke Sievers; Group Improv Leah Johnson, Grace Minor, Sam Mooney, and Zayne Smith; Group Mime Chloe Carlson, Cassondra Ruzicka, and Sydney Savery; Short Film Aiden Christensen, Max Mason, and Quinton Orr; Reader's Theatre Cameron Beach, Devon Coon, Lauren Erickson, Jake Halvorson, Logan Kehoe, Kelly Skow, Emie Wolter, Braden Sandven, Sydney Savery, Aneisha Sritharan, Carter Theesfeld, and Chloe Mayall. The 9th grade Reader's Theatre Group performed well and received a Division two rating. Members of the group include Dani Abens, Elle Clark, Camden Karageorge, Payten Kramer, Kelly Manz, Taryn McKimmey, Brody Paterson, Ollin Vick, and Erin Wittrock. Well done one and all.
  • Congratulations to the following wrestlers for advancing to the district tournament this Saturday in Algona: Cole Nelson, Jase Goodell, Cresten Craven, Colby Clarken, Levi Naeve, Logan Nilles and Colten Goodell. The team advances to the regional duals tomorrow night in Atlantic for the opportunity to advance to the state dual tournament.
  • The last organizational meeting for Individual Speech will be held TODAY at 3:30 in the Little Aud. We will be setting the roster for District Contest on that day or scheduling perfor-offs if necessary. If you are interested and unable to attend BE SURE to contact Mr. Terwilliger or Ms. Quade.
  • Reminder—When your winter sport ends, you need to pick up a PE Opt Out Activity log. These are available in the office.
  • Every Day Study Hall—forms to request every day study hall are available in the office. These forms will need to be returned before Tuesday, February 11.
  • In accordance with the policy in the school handbook delivery of flowers, balloons, singing grams, etc.is not accepted on Valentine’s Day due to the disruption to the school environment and learning. Deliveries two days before and two days after Valentine’s Day will also not be allowed. February 12-18.

  • ICAN is hosting an event for seniors to take part in Covering College Costs: Understanding & Comparing College Financial Aid on Thursday, February 13 at 5:30 pm. This online presentation can be viewed on any device from the comfort of their home or office. The presentation will be live and the attendee can ask questions (typing or talking) to ICAN Student Success Advisor John Holland as he presents. Completing the FAFSA is an important step for students in the college-going process, but what happens after you hit submit? What are the next steps? In this webinar, we will explain the pieces of an award letter, how packages are put together, and how to compare one award package to another.   • ASVAB assessment- Another career tool available to our students. We will be administering the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) to students interested. These tests are designed to measure aptitudes in four domains: Verbal, Math, Science and Technical, and Spatial. The program provides tools to help students learn more about career exploration and planning, in both the civilian and military worlds of work. The ASVAB will be administered at the high school on February 12, 2020, from 12:00-3:00. Interested students should sign up in the office. We need at least 5 students to offer the test.
  • Iowa Central Community College invites students for the Jam-the-Gym and Triton Visit Day on Saturday, February 15, 2020, Starting at 9 am with the games to follow at 1 and 3 pm. Admission is free along with a t-shirt and a chance to win other great prizes. RSVP at www.iowacentral.edu/admission/visit.asp for the visit day. No need to register if you plan to attend only the games.
