  • Reminder—When your winter sport ends, you need to pick up a PE Opt Out Activity log. These are available in the office.
  • Every Day Study Hall—forms to request every day study hall are available in the office. These forms will need to be returned TODAY.
  • Congratulations to 9th grade boys basketball on their WIN over Webster City last night. Way to go!!
  • The Humboldt County Food Pantry needs volunteers Wednesday (2/12)at 3:30 to help unload a large donation. Silver cord hours are available! Please come help if you are available!  The Food Pantry is located on Highway 3 in the county shed-across from John Deere.
  • In accordance with the policy in the school handbook delivery of flowers, balloons, singing grams, etc.is not accepted on Valentine’s Day due to the disruption to the school environment and learning. Deliveries two days before and two days after Valentine’s Day will also not be allowed. February 12-18.
  • The honors keep coming for Humboldt Group Speech. Yesterday the Iowa High School Speech Association announced that three groups from Humboldt have been selected to perform at The Group All State Speech Festival in Ames February 22. Groups selected to perform include; Musical Theatre "Rent", Megan Abens and Hailey Box; Reader;s Theatre "Cliff Notes Odyssey" Cameron Beach, Devon Coon, Lauren Erickson, Donovan Froisland (I remembered this time, Don),Jake Halvorson, Logan Kehoe, Kelly Skow, Emie Wolter, Braden Sandven, Sydney Savery, Aneisha Sritharan, Carter Theesfeld, and Chloe Mayall; Group Mime "Fight For Life" Chloe Carlson, Cassondra Ruzicka, and Sydney Savery. Special congratulations to these outstanding performers.

  • There will be a Chuck a Duck and a Cake raffle at Tuesday’s Home basketball game
  • ICAN is hosting an event for seniors to take part in Covering College Costs: Understanding & Comparing College Financial Aid on Thursday, February 13 at 5:30 pm. This online presentation can be viewed on any device from the comfort of their home or office. The presentation will be live and the attendee can ask questions (typing or talking) to ICAN Student Success Advisor John Holland as he presents. Completing the FAFSA is an important step for students in the college-going process, but what happens after you hit submit? What are the next steps? In this webinar, we will explain the pieces of an award letter, how packages are put together, and how to compare one award package to another.   • ASVAB assessment- Another career tool available to our students. We will be administering the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) to students interested. These tests are designed to measure aptitudes in four domains: Verbal, Math, Science and Technical, and Spatial. The program provides tools to help students learn more about career exploration and planning, in both the civilian and military worlds of work. The ASVAB will be administered at the high school on February 12, 2020, from 12:00-3:00. Interested students should sign up in the office. We need at least 5 students to offer the test.
  • Iowa Central Community College invites students for the Jam-the-Gym and Triton Visit Day on Saturday, February 15, 2020, Starting at 9 am with the games to follow at 1 and 3 pm. Admission is free along with a t-shirt and a chance to win other great prizes. RSVP at www.iowacentral.edu/admission/visit.asp for the visit day. No need to register if you plan to attend only the games.
  • UnityPoint Trinity Regional Medical Center "Caring for Our Future" Scholarship-  Deadline: April 3, 2020 -Students going into the nursing profession and those already in the profession, to further their nursing education The goal of this scholarship is to foster entry-level nursing education as well as, advanced degrees.   • Bank Iowa Spirit of Chandy Scholarship-Deadline: March 9, 2020. Bank Iowa Spirit of Chandy Scholarship is a program created by Bank Iowa to honor Chandy Barr Clanton, their former Vice-Chair, and to show their commitment to their communities and area youth. Applicants must be high school seniors who plant o enroll as full-time undergraduates at an accredited four-year college or university or a 2-year community college in the fall following graduation. This scholarship program is available to both Bank Iiow customers and non-customers. See Mrs. Powers for application.
  • Hispanic Scholarship Funds-HSF is the nation’s leading provider of scholarships and services designed to give Latino students full access to the opportunity a college education can provide. Founded in 1975, we have awarded over $619 million in scholarships. Scholarships range from $500 to $5,000, and Finalists who do not receive financial awards nevertheless qualify to be HSF Scholars and have access to our full range of Scholar Support Services, such as career coaching, internship, and full-time employment opportunities, mentoring leadership development, and wellness resources, including tools for self-advocacy, well-being, and knowledge building. Phase I of the HSF Scholarship Application is now open! The application only takes 30 minutes to an hour to complete, as no essays or recommendations are required for Phase I.
