Dear High School Students,

Our School Board Members and district administrators strongly believe in shared leadership and decision-making. Once again, we invite a high school student to serve on our school board from December 16, 2024 through July 2025. We need student board members who are able to communicate and relate with ALL student groups, grades, and staff members.

Eligibility and duties:

• board meetings are typically the third Monday evening at 5:30 each month. Attendance is important.
• be a full-time high school student in the district 
• participate in an orientation of board responsibilities and procedures as determined by the Superintendent; 
• participate in the discussion, but not vote, at all regular board meetings held in open session;
• facilitate communication between the board and student body
• assist with gathering survey and stakeholder information
• participate in district committees
• abide by all applicable sections of the Board Members’ Code of Ethics

• There will be no livestream (Youtube) on Humboldt Wildcats Productions for the regional volleyball match. 

• Boys basketball players will be ordering shooting shirts this year.  Information can be found on the team REMIND. If you are not part of the team REMIND, contact Coach Thurm.

• There will be no off-season lifting on Thursday this week due to parent-teacher conferences.

• There will be a girls wrestling parent meeting on 10/31 at 6:00 in the Middle School cafeteria.

• The parent performance for The Music Man will be held on Tuesday, October 29. Please note the date change.

• There will be a Halloween Costume Dance on October 25th after the home football game featuring DJ Chrizzler Carl. The student section theme that night is “wear your Halloween costume,” so keep it on and head over to the cafeteria 15 minutes after the game ends. Entrance is $5 and the dance ends at 11:30pm. Costumes must be dress-code appropriate. 

• The Culture Trip is proud to announce that Winter Formal will be Saturday, December 7th from 8:00 – 11:00 PM in the HS Cafeteria.  If you are interested in helping the Culture Trip students plan, organize, and decorate, please use the following link to join the Remind for important information: https://www.remind.com/join/kf4eeb2

• Wrestling Team Store: https://stores.inksoft.com/WS108492  This is the X-Grain order for wrestling. This order closes October 22 and garments will be shipped approximately 3 weeks after the close date. 

• Senior Portraits for the yearbook are due by the end of Thanksgiving Break. Email a digital copy to Mrs. K at rkeolakhonevong@humboldt.k12.ia.us

• College and military representatives  will be at the high school on the following dates:
  • 10/31 All military Q&A during homeroom
  • 11/7 Northwest Iowa CC Rep visit @ 11:00

• All juniors will take the  ASVAB  on November 7  in Auditorium Lobby @ 9:00

• Star Wars, Ticket to Ride, Catan, Disney Villains, War Chest, Sorcerer’s Arena or bring a game for others to play.  WILDCAT WARRIORS GAME CLUB.  We meet every Monday and Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 in the High School Media Center.  JOIN the REMIND for Information and Updates:   TEXT to 81010 in the message put @3ce28b3

• FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) welcomes all students, not just athletes. FCA will meet every other Sunday at Mrs. Beach’s home (201 12^th St SW, Humboldt) 6:00-7:30. A light meal will be provided with fellowship time.  The meeting dates for this fall are:  10/20, 11/3, 11/17, 12/1 and 12/15. If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Beach.
