Community Climate Survey - Every adult has a stake in the education and welfare of children by providing them a healthy, safe, and supportive learning environment. Schools, families, and community members share these common goals and work together for the sake of all our children. As a way to measure these goals, Humboldt CSD is collecting information from school staff, students, parents, and community members through our Community Climate Survey. Please complete this survey by Friday, November 8, 2019.  Thank you, Mr. Greg Darling, Superintendent.

From the HHS Activities Director - Humboldt is hosting the Regional Semifinal Volleyball tournament at the high school gym on Tuesday, October 29th starting at 7:00 PM.  Our Humboldt Wildcats will play the Algona Bulldogs. Doors open at 6:00 PM. Admission is $6.00. This price is set by the IGHSAU and since it is their tournament, we cannot accept any passes.  Good Luck Cats!!!

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday, November 5th and Thursday, November 7th from 4:00 - 7:30 p.m. at Mease and Taft Elementary Schools (Mrs. Wardell will also have times on Wednesday, November 6th due having more students than available times in two evenings).  Your child’s classroom teacher sent you an electronic notification with a link to a Google form to sign up for a conference. Please sign up for a time by this Wednesday or a time will be assigned for you. The day and time you select for your November conference will also be your time for your conference in February.  We have had some glitches with the email confirmation so we will be sending paper confirmations home later this week. Thank you for your response to this new method of scheduling. We will work to make it even better next year!

Mease Elementary will celebrate Halloween on Thursday, October 31st. Students may bring their costumes to school to change into before the activities. Our Morning EC-4 and EC-5 classes will have a parade at 10:45 in our Mease hallways.  Parents are welcome to come to watch this parade. In the afternoon our Kindergarten classes will be visiting the residents at our local care centers. Then all students (including Afternoon EC-4 and EC-5 classes) will be bused to Taft for a Halloween Parade which will begin sharply at 2:15 p.m. Parents are welcome to go to Taft to watch the parade. Mease students will be bused back to Mease for their regular dismissal. Please be mindful that costumes should be free of blood and gore. Do not send accessories such as guns, swords and knives.  Please DO NOT use face or hair paint.

Flu Vaccinations will be offered during Parent Teacher Conferences on November 5th and 7th at Taft Elementary and the Humboldt Middle School.  See attached for information on the cost and documentation to bring with you.  If you have any questions please contact Humboldt County Public Health at 515-332-2492.

Box Tops for Education Program Change - We have collected Box Tops for several years at our elementary schools.  We earn 10 cents for every Box Top we receive. We will still continue to collect the clipped Box Tops until it is fazed out.  However, there is a Box Top app that you scan your receipt to get our school the credit for the Box Tops on that particular shopping trip.  No more clipping! Learn more about these changes at BTFE.com. Thank you for your support!

Parent Portal - all parents have the ability to access their student’s Infinite Campus profile.  For elementary students this includes checking meal account balances, making payments, updating phone numbers, addresses, etc.  As your child gets older you will be able to see their schedule and their grades. If you would like to gain access please email Michelle Thomas, mthomas@humboldt.k12.ia.us to obtain your activation key and instructions.  You will be able to see all of your children who are enrolled in Humboldt Schools with one sign in and password.
