  • Congratulations to the 9th boys basketball team on their win over Gilbert last night. They finished their season 18-0—Great job Cats and Coach Savery!
  • PE Opt out activity logs—As winter sports come to an end, remember you must complete the activity logs for PE until your spring sport begins. Logs are available in the hall outside of the office.
  • Seniors with open campus during CATS time are encouraged to stay on Thursday (tomorrow) to attend the Jazz Band performance in the auditorium. Your attendance is greatly appreciated.
  • Jazz Band Concert Expectations:

1. Enter and exit your seat only between selections. If possible, wait until the audience is applauding before moving. Never leave during a song.

2. Don't talk during a performance.
3. Please turn all cell phones off.
4. It is considered well-mannered to applaud after each artist has completed their extended improvised solo.  Audience can again clap, when each of the songs is fully finished. At this time, you can whistle, or vocalize your acceptance of the performance.
5. Whistling, yelling, or otherwise congratulating the performers is generally not appropriate for classical music concerts.
6. No videos
7. Be kind. These students are here at 7 am 3-4 times a week working on this music. They work hard.

  • There is a Girls Soccer sign up sheet in the office.   Please sign up by the end of the week if you are interested in playing soccer this year.   The first day of practice is March 14
  • Congratulations and Good Luck at State Wrestling to Cyler Cirks, DJ Muir, Jaden Gargano and Joe Weydert!! Great job, Cats!!
  • Coach Beaman still has 25 finals tickets for sale. Contact him if you would like to purchase one. He would like to give Humboldt fans the opportunity before sending out to other schools. 
  • Great job to the 9th boys basketball team on their win over Webster City on Friday night.
  • Girls Wrestling—please turn in your uniforms this week.
  • There will be a boys track meeting in Mr Wickett’s room Today right after school.
  • HHS will be celebrating Pi Day on Monday, March 14.  The math department is looking for people to donate pies and workers to help cut and serve the pies.  Pies need to be nut free. Please no pies that need refrigeration as we won't have a place to keep them.  Pies need to be at the high school by noon Monday, March 14.  Students are welcome to bring them before school and drop off in the auditorium lobby.  Workers cutting the pies would need to come around 1:00. Thanks for helping us make Pi Day a fun day for our students!

  • Pi Day shirts are on sale through noon on Thursday, February 24. All shirts are $12.  Please order and pay in the office.
  • Soundsations Auditions-March 1 3:30-5:30. Sign up for audition spot on the choral music bulletin board.
  • FCA will not meet this week
  • Humboldt High School is hosting a prom/formal dress sale on the 27th of February, located in the High School Cafeteria. Dress drop-off is from 2:30- 3:00, Shopping is from 3:00-5:00 and money/unsold dress pickup is from 5:00-5:30. We are trying to share the news with surrounding towns/school districts. Anyone is welcome to sell a dress or buy one. If you are interested in selling or have questions, contact (601) 334-4353.
  • State Wrestling 2A state tournament sessions are: 
    •       Session 1:  9 AM - 12 PM   (Thurs. 2/17)
    •       Session  4: 9 AM - 1 PM (Fri. 2/18)
    •       Session 5:  2:30 PM - 5:45 PM  (Fri. 2/18)
    •       Sessions 7:  10 AM - 2:15 PM  (Sat. 2/19)
    •       Session 8:  5:45 PM  (Sat. 2/19)

  • State Wrestling information:
  • Entry and exit points-
    • There will be two entry points into WFA – the south doors (bottom of the hill) and the skywalk from HyVee Hall (HVH).
    • Patrons will have to pass through metal detectors before being allowed entrance to WFA.
    • The north set of doors (top of the hill) is an exit only location.
  • BAG POLICYWells Fargo Arena has implemented a clear bag policy for all events. A maximum clear bag the size of 12"x6"x12" is permitted. Exceptions will be made for medical, family, or child care bags or small clutches no larger than 4.5"x6.5".
    • Guests will be able to carry ONE of the following bags into the venue:
      • One bag that is clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and does not exceed 12'' x 12'' x 6''.
      • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
      • One small clutch purse or wallet 4.5'' x 6.5'' (about the size of a hand) or smaller, with or without a handle or strap. This can be taken into the venue inside one of the clear plastic bags.

Apply for the Youth Tour program which is sponsored through Midland Power Cooperative. High school sophomores and juniors from across the nation are nominated to attend a week-long trip to  Washington, D.C. for an all-expense-paid trip from June 18-24, 2022. The financial aid process can be daunting. From completing the application to understanding award letters, developing a plan to pay for college is one of the most important steps in the process. This program covers: Financial Aid Process, FAFSA Application Review, Understanding the Results of the Application, Understanding Costs - College Comparisons, Aid Options, Scholarship Process, Where to Go For Help

  • On March 23rd Iowa Central will be hosting their spring career fair (please see attachment). There is to be expected around 125 businesses in attendance. This is a great opportunity for those who want to go straight into the workforce following graduation, connect with area businesses, practice their elevator pitch, prepare an appropriate business casual outfit and practice good hygiene. If students have an updated resume to share with the businesses that would be suggested.
  • The Home Builders Association of Greater Des Moines is hosting Build My Future in Des Moines on Wednesday, April 13th at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. This is a hands-on career fair & industry showcase that brings together employers in skilled trades to expose young people to different careers including but not limited to the following:

    - Manufacturing
    - Healthcare/Nursing
    - Law Enforcement & Emergency Services
    - Military
    - Culinary, Restaurant & Hospitality
    - Agriculture
    - Commercial &  Residential construction
    - Heavy Equipment Operations
    - Trucking/Driver
    - Automotive
    - IT & Cybersecurity
    - Energy & More!

We will be attending the event and touring a college campus.  Sign up outside the office by February 28th if you are interested in attending. Space is limited to 50 students.

  • Join Buena Vista University for their Computer Science Visit Day on Monday, February 28, 2022. Students will explore the career opportunities within their Computer Science programs. Students will participate in three hands-on learning sessions in the areas of robotics, computer security, and virtual reality throughout the day. Lunch will be provided, and they will end the day with a question-and-answer session with current students in their computer science programs. Registration fills up quickly.

  • The 2022 Young Women in Leadership Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9, 2022, from morning to early afternoon. This fourth annual event, hosted by the University of Northern Iowa Women in Business, is open to all high school students and is geared toward developing young leaders. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from a variety of speakers focused on topics relating to leadership, as well as personal and professional development. 

Registration fees will be $15 per attendee, which will include a t-shirt, lunch, and training! Registration runs from January 26 to February 23- be sure to register early as spots are limited.

  • Wildcat Warriors Game Club-We will be meeting every Monday in the Media Center from 3:30 to 5:30.  Bring a new game to teach or come and learn a new game. See Mr. Lauger or Skyler Nielsen for more information.
  • Cat Cafe punch cards are available for purchase in the high school office. Cost is $10 for $11 worth of punches.  The Cat Cafe will hold your card for you, so you'll always have funds for your favorite Cat Cafe drinks!
