Note from Mrs. Kester:
Good afternoon! Please see the paragraph below for an introduction to our new social-emotional interventions at Taft and Mease, Mrs. Heinz. She has been busy making connections and building relationships with students to begin our year!
Dear Mease and Taft families,
My name is Mrs. Heinz and I am the new Interventionist at Mease and Taft schools. I am excited to get to know your children better through our weekly SEL time. We will work on social and life skills together. Each class, Kindergarten through 4th grade, will meet with me once every 5-day cycle during their Specials. My hope is to help your children mature in their relationships with others and help make school a positive and healthy environment for them to learn and grow. It has been a great start to the year, and I look forward to what lies ahead!
Coming home today is a consent form for the Lion's Club vision screening. For those of you that are not familiar with this program, they take a picture of your child's eyes and send it in to the University of Iowa to be evaluated and then forms are sent back to the school on if there were any concerns or not. If your child wears glasses they will not be screened. Please have your eye doctor complete the vision form and return to school if you haven't yet.
Please fill out the consent form , sign and return to school as soon as possible. If your child has not had a vision screening for Kindergarten enrollment yet, this will count for that. If your child is in preschool it will count for next year Kindergarten enrollment.
Any questions please contact the school nurse

The Humboldt Dance Team will be hosting 'fill the truck events' over the next couple of weeks.
At the volleyball game on September 13th from 5-7:30pm we will be set up at the high school near the back cafeteria/gym doors. We will be collecting animal shelter supplies: bleach, pinesol, pee pads, gloves, kong toys, taste of the wild dog food, honest kitchen dog food, redford grain free wet cat food, treats, red/blue kote, towels, martingale style collars, and slip leads.
At the volleyball game on September 27th from 5-7:30pm we will be set up at the high school near the back cafeteria/gym doors. We will be collecting new/gently used blankets for animal shelters and homeless shelters.
At the Homecoming football game on September 30th from 6-7:45pm we will be set up at the high school between the admission gate and concession stand. We will be collecting clothing and food items for people in need.
At all of these events, we will also have a bucket for monetary donations. The final proceeds from the collection bucket will be split between Moffitt, Peace Creak, and Lazy J Rescues.
Several dance teams across the state participated in events like this last year. Humboldt was able to raise more money than any other team in the state! Follow the Humboldt High School Dance Team on Facebook to stay updated on the results from these community based fundraisers :)
