Mease Elementary will celebrate Halloween on Thursday, October 31st. Students may bring their costumes to school to change into before the activities. Our Morning EC-4 and EC-5 classes will have a parade at 10:45 in our Mease hallways. Parents are welcome to come to watch this parade. In the afternoon our Kindergarten classes will be visiting the residents at our local care centers. Then all students (including Afternoon EC-4 and EC-5 classes) will be bused to Taft for a Halloween Parade which will begin sharply at 2:15 p.m. Parents are welcome to go to Taft to watch the parade. Mease students will be bused back to Mease for their regular dismissal. Please be mindful that costumes should be free of blood and gore. Do not send accessories such as guns, swords and knives. Please DO NOT use face or hair paint.
From Mrs. Dent, Elementary Counselor - Since October is both National Bullying Prevention month and also the time of Red Ribbon Week, we are going to highlight “Really Excellent Decisions” week October 28th – 31st. We will celebrate making good decisions and spreading kindness to others! See the attachment for the theme for each day.
Flu Vaccinations will be offered during Parent Teacher Conferences on November 5th and 7th at Taft Elementary and the Humboldt Middle School. See attached for information on the cost and documentation to bring with you. If you have any questions please contact Humboldt County Public Health at 515-332-2492.
Infinite Campus’ Online Payment vendor, Vanco, will be undergoing maintenance beginning at 11PM CDT on October 21, 2019 lasting through 12AM CDT on October 22, 2019. During this one hour window, users will be unable to process credit and debit card payments and will instead receive “An error occurred with your payment” error message. Payments with echeck payment methods will be unaffected. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
PATHS (Parents and Teachers for Humboldt Students) Gift Card Fundraiser - All elementary students will be bringing home an order form you can use to support our schools by buying gift cards. You purchase gift cards at face value to local and national vendors and the company gives a percentage back to PATHS for selling their gift cards. To see a complete list of businesses participating please check www.shopwithscrip.com use enrollment code: A7LAD8E136656. This is NOT intended to be a door to door fundraiser, but rather for families to support their children’s elementary school. Orders are due by Thursday, October 24th. Gift cards will be available for pick up on Tuesday, November 5 or Thursday, November 7 during Parent Teacher Conferences. If you have questions about this fundraiser or any other questions about PATHS please email firstname.lastname@example.org or find them on Facebook at Humboldt PATHS. Thank you.
Reminder: Doors to Mease and Taft Elementary Schools open at 7:45 a.m. If your child is catching a bus to another school we recommend arriving no earlier than 7:40. As the weather turns colder these children are having to wait too long outdoors. We have had students at both buildings as early as 7:15; there is no supervision at this time. Please refrain from dropping your child off before 7:40. Thank you.
Box Tops for Education Program Change - We have collected Box Tops for several years at our elementary schools. We earn 10 cents for every Box Top we receive. We will still continue to collect the clipped Box Tops until it is fazed out. However, there is a Box Top app that you scan your receipt to get our school the credit for the Box Tops on that particular shopping trip. No more clipping! Learn more about these changes at BTFE.com. Thank you for your support!
Parent Portal - all parents have the ability to access their student’s Infinite Campus profile. For elementary students this includes checking meal account balances, making payments, updating phone numbers, addresses, etc. As your child gets older you will be able to see their schedule and their grades. If you would like to gain access please email Michelle Thomas, email@example.com to obtain your activation key and instructions. You will be able to see all of your children who are enrolled in Humboldt Schools with one sign in and password.
