Hello Taft families -
We had a great first three days back at school! Our staff members and students did a tremendous job of explaining and then following our mitigation strategies that were outlined last week. A few minor changes had to be made along the way, but school wide and classroom routines are falling into place. We appreciate all of the support that you have provided as parents/guardians in regards to masks/face coverings, supplies, and your overall flexibility and understanding as we navigate school reopening together!
A few reminders:
If you haven’t already, please review the Parent Student Handbook (pages 35-40) for some reminders about Taft/Mease expectations. Here is the link: https://www.humboldt.k12.ia.us/media/documents/202021_Parent_Student_Handbook_FINA_0AAA6A35A464B.pdf
The handbook states that the school doors open at 7:45. Due to students going straight to classrooms and teacher contract hours, the doors will open at 7:50. We ask that you drop off or remind your student to begin walking to school closer to this time.
Our mitigation strategies last week mentioned that we will limit visitors in the school building. We’ve allowed parents that were interested in walking their students to classrooms to do so. We ask that this stops as we head into our first full week. You are more than welcome to walk your child to the door, but please do not enter the building without an appointment or calling our school secretary.
Bus - Food is not allowed on the buses at this time. Students should not bring breakfast or a snack to eat on the bus. Thank you, Leo Reigelsberger, Transportation Director
Important Upcoming Dates:
September 7th - No School - Labor Day
September 8th - Picture Day at Taft
Please let us know if you have questions!
