We hope that everyone was able to enjoy Labor Day weekend! As many students and families have returned from travel across the state, we do ask that mitigation strategies are followed closely, especially symptom monitoring at home. The sheet that was shared at conferences will be attached within this message; please take a few minutes to review it. Our goal is to keep everyone in school with face-to-face learning this year, and the only way that we can do this is by working together to keep everyone safe and healthy!
2020 Humboldt Homecoming Activities
Homecoming will look a little differently this year due to Covid guidelines. With the input from staff, students, and community we have been able to make adjustments to almost all of our activities. It is exciting as some schools across the state have decided to cancel or postpone their homecoming events. Our Homecoming activities will kick off on Sunday, September 13 at 6:30pm with a community parade. It will start at Taft Elementary heading east down the one way street to 4th Street and then will go south onto Sumner Avenue. It will continue down Sumner Avenue and end at Bicknell Park. Road closures will go up at 6:15pm. Coronation of the Homecoming King and Queen will be at 7:30pm at Bicknell Park Bandshell. Parents of the Homecoming court will have reserved seating. Everyone else will be standing room only. Coronation will be a normal schedule which will take about 10-15 minutes. Please look at Humboldt School social media, 97.7, and the school website for the parade route. As always, please follow Covid guidelines by socially distancing and wearing masks.

Message from Melinda Busick, Food Service Director:
We are pleased to inform you that the school district is offering free breakfast and lunch meals to all children 18 and under, starting on Monday, September 14, 2020. The Iowa Department of Education recently informed Iowa public schools of a surplus of funds still available under the Summer Food Service Program. This opportunity will be available until December 31 or until the excess of funding runs out.
Students attending school will follow normal meal routines. There will be a pick-up station daily from 9:00-9:45 at the Humboldt High School west doors for children not attending school. Those offerings will include both breakfast and lunch. Meals are cooked and cooled, much like last summer.
The menu is posted on the school website and is subject to change.
If you have any questions, you may contact Melinda Busick, Food Service Director, at 515-332-3612
