Patty Hayes

🩷 One year ago, a routine mammogram marked the beginning of a journey HHS Instructional Coach Patty Hayes never expected to face.

Following her mammogram, Patty learned that she had breast cancer. In February, she underwent a double mastectomy, followed by months of treatment throughout the spring and summer. After 20 weeks of chemotherapy and 25 radiation treatments, she completed her final treatment on September 21.

To honor that milestone, HHS students and staff lined the halls to celebrate Patty as she walked through, filling the school with applause, encouragement, and support. It was a special moment for our school community and a small way for us to celebrate Patty after all she has been through. 💙

Throughout her journey, Patty says she has felt an incredible amount of love from her Humboldt Schools family. From our administration and staff, to the meals, fundraisers, words of encouragement, and countless acts of kindness, the support has meant more to her than she can put into words.

“I couldn’t have asked for more support. Everyone has been so positive and uplifting!”

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month approaches, we are grateful to share Patty’s story and celebrate this milestone alongside her. Her journey is an important reminder of the value of routine screenings, the strength found in community, and how much it means to show up for one another.

Most importantly, thank you, Patty, for allowing us to share your journey and for letting your HHS family be part of such a meaningful moment. We are incredibly grateful we had the opportunity to celebrate you, your strength, and the completion of your treatment.

Congratulations, Patty! Your Humboldt Schools family is so happy to celebrate this milestone with you. 💙💛
