Today was Safety Day at Humboldt Middle School! 💙💛

Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities focused on important safety procedures and how to respond in different situations.

A huge thank you to our HCSD Transportation Department, HMS staff, Humboldt County Memorial Hospital, Humboldt Police Department, Humboldt Fire Department. and Iowa State Patrol for helping make today possible and for sharing their time and expertise with our students!

Students also had the opportunity to experience a rollover simulator, providing a powerful, hands-on reminder about vehicle and seat belt safety.

We’re grateful for all of our community partners who help us educate and prepare our students while keeping safety at the forefront.

💙💛 Early Dismissal Today!
A reminder that HCSD students will be dismissed early today, August 26, as our teachers participate in professional development. 📚

This week in Kayla Long’s 8th grade science class, students put their communication and engineering skills to the test! 🧪🏗️ Their challenge: build the tallest free-standing tower, with a twist! Some students couldn’t talk, while others had to communicate in a language their teammates couldn’t understand! Through gestures, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving, students discovered that communication goes far beyond words. 💡🤝 They struggled, adapted, and persevered, just like true engineers! 💪

And just like that… we’re back! The first day was filled with big smiles, new friendships, and lots of wildcat spirit!! 💙🐾💛 Thank you to our students, families, and staff for making the first day special! Go cats!!

A special thank you to BOLDT Nutrition for welcoming our seniors and providing a beautiful place for them to gather and kick off their final year together.
