● There will be a brief Girls Basketball Meeting for anyone planning on playing basketball next year in Mr. Mooney’s classroom right after school TODAY. Please talk to Mr. Mooney if you can’t be there.

High School Camp Elementary/Middle School Camps
Can you guess next fall’s musical? Each day there will be a musical posted as “The Musical It Isn’t”. Today’s “The Musical It Isn’t” “The Sound of Music”
● The Humboldt High School theater department will participate in the 2024 Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards Showcase, presented by EMC Insurance Companies, in honor of the school’s achievements for its November production of Jane Austen’s “Emma”. Produced by Des Moines Performing Arts as the culmination of a year-long education initiative, the Showcase will be held at the Des Moines Civic Center on Thursday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. and will recognize a total of 102 schools from across the entire state. Jaynee Depue will perform an excerpt from her award-winning role in Jane Austen’s Emma as Harriet. Jaynee will also participate in the Triple Threat Award program with other advanced performing students. In addition to a special performance at the showcase, students will audition for theater camp scholarships and the opportunity to represent Iowa at the Jimmy Awards, or National High School Musical Theatre Awards, in New York City this summer. Humboldt High School will also be recognized with the following awards and honors: Jaynee Depue, Outstanding Performance in a Principal Role; Lillian Holm, Special Recognition in a Principal Role. Tickets to the Showcase, which start at $15, will go on sale on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 10 AM at DMPA.org, the Des Moines Civic Center Ticket Office, and by
phone at 515-246-2300. The Awards Showcase will be live-streamed at IowaPBS.org as part of a collaboration
with Iowa PBS. Iowa PBS will also broadcast a highlights special of the event later this summer on dates to be
announced.
● Mobile Food Bank will be at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds Wednesday May 8th 4:30-6pm (or until food runs
out) All are welcome!
● There will be a football meeting for all players and parents next Wednesday, May 15 at 7 in the auditorium
● All library books are due on May 10.
● HHS Commencement will be on Sunday, May 19 @ 2:00 in the high school gym.
● Through the end of the school year, Sumner Avenue hill from the bridge to Hwy 169 will be closed to both foot
and vehicle traffic. If your student needs to ride the bus up or down the hill they need to be at the Middle
School, Taft or Mease by 7:45am.
● FCA meetings will be May 1 and May 8. Meetings are at 6:15, 201 12th Street SW.
● Cat Café is open on Fridays 7:20-8:45.
● Wildcat Warrior’s Game Club will meet every Monday and Thursday in the media center from 3:30-5:30. Bring a
new game to teach or come and learn a new game. Many new games Gloomhaven, Marvel Dice Throne, Turing
